Fogret about him…study your manual and take lots of pics,

when taking pics, try to use your light meter to get the best exposure using f stop and shutter speed,
If you are indeed serious..get the book called ” Understandinig Aperture” By an author I forget..sorry, I forget but I am old but still take great pics

While your Camera’s Manual is a good place to start. I can also recommend your local Library or bookstore that I’m sure would have a great collection of resources on Photography.

Its not only about Photography in general. Its also important that you thoroughly understand your camera, its features, and the lenses that you may use.

Here are some good sites to get you started:

Tutorials for Beginners

My own Flickr site has some decent information for beginners:

Here are a few to check out:

links to many tutorials written by users
links to many pages - some technique and some technical

I like the way this guy thinks:

I can easily recommend this book as an excellent source for a beginner. “Get the Most from Your Digital Camera,” by Simon Joinson.

I am sure that it is not “everything” Simon knows about photography, but it is sure to help you get started.

Check these sites:

If you really want to improve your photography start using a tripod. Yes, even on a sunny day. I consider a tripod mandatory for landscapes since I shoot in Aperture Priority at ISO 100 and want maximum depth of field. My tripod allows me to keep my camera perfectly level and since I usually use a circular polarizer I know the shutter speed won’t be fast enough to hand-hold.

Using a tripod will slow you down so you have more time to think about light, composition, exposure and depth of field and how to use them to make the picture you want to make.

The 5th. site I listed was used for these night city skyline pictures. I chose “Distant city skyline” from the list of Scenes, chose ISO 200 and then clicked on “Calculate”. I chose to go with f11 @ 30 seconds.

Happy learning & improving!
