The Owner’s Manual for your camera is also a good source of information.

There are zillions of books on digital photography, but very many of them are not up-to-date, so make sure you go for the very latest, because although the principles of photography remain the same, the technology moves rapidly. You may also have to consider how ‘pro’ you want to go, how much you want to achieve in-camera, and how much you’re prepared to work on the computer afterwards. I have 3 Photoshop ebooks and lots of free download Photoshop CS3 tutorials that may be useful to you. There are free tips-pdfs as well. My best advice to you is to learn the basics properly, and never underestimate the value of good composition, decent lighting and a spot-on exposure. No amount of Photoshopping can beat that!
