What do you consider to be the best photography magazine?

As far as having some tips and techniques and possibly photoshop “how to’s” type of information that also has a reasonable price per issue. I currently subscribe to Popular Photography, Outdoor Photographer, and PC Photo. There are a couple that I would like to subscribe to but are from outside the US but cost around $60 for 4 issues a year.

Rangefinder is a superb photography magazine. One of the best I can think of.
If you are interested in specific types of photography, there are plenty of magazines out there that cater towards various fields of photography.

I would probably say Hustler - Oh wait - you said PHOTography. I have no clue.

You might try Digital Photo Pro……it really seems to stay on top of what is going on in the industry. I like most of the articles and it has lots of tips on post processing. I do wish they would do something with their main photo on the cover….at bit over stylized for my taste. Go to Books-a-Million and scan the racks.

Do you read any photo periodicals that aren’t geared towards technique or equipment? “Lenswork” is consistently good, and the interviews with photographers are often pretty illuminating. “Shots” is of very uneven quality, but there’s something great in every issue and it’s a cheap buy.
Most of the mass-market photo mags are intended to make you buy more crap. Most photographers don’t take them seriously. If you’re really intent on knowing the aerial resolution of the latest stabilized 400mm/2.8, they might be for you, but otherwise there’s a lot to be said for magazines that focus on art rather than equipment.

I will second the vote for LensWork magazine. Another magazine that is more geared towards the “art” of photography is Camera Arts magazine. Expensive but a really good magazine; maybe worth buying a few issues now and then.
If you can stand all the advertising, another decent magazine that is more techniques oriented like the ones you mentioned is Shutterbug. Photo Techniques and Outdoor Photographer can also be interesting at times.
But the best thing you can do to improve your photo technique is still to put down the magazines and go out and shoot!
