I Need Photography Tips?

Haley :) asked:

I just got a camera for Christmas, and I’m running outta ideas to take pictures of. Any tips? If so could you tell me some ideas to take pictures of? Thank you!

Haley :)

Take a walk! Look at everything objectively like you’ve never seen it before. Then pick something that inspires you or is just beautiful in general.

There is nothing that you cannot take a picture of. If the subject seems boring to you than add your own creativity to the shot.
Experiment….have fun with your camera.

Have a friend pose for you; take one of your friend’s senior pictures. That’s what I’m doing this week to build up my portfolio.

Another idea (aside from hunting for more subjects, as many answers suggest) is to simply find ONE subject (let’s say a toy from your childhood) and photograph it over, and over, and over… The more time you spend trying to find a NEW way to see the object, the more you are learning about the TRUE nature of photography. Can you find new ways to use light with the subject? Can you change the environment the object is in? Can you change your perspective? What differences do you see when you photograph one object close? The same object from very far away?

Eventually, you will make an image which surprises you and shows you something NEW in an object that you thought you completely understood already.

That is all good advice above. I would add that you look around Flickr or some other photo sharing website. You might come across some good ideas.
