How can I set up my photography studio to take pictures of infants?

Alison L asked:

I have a photography studio, with the posing stools and all, but do not have the equipment to do babies, but a customer wants her 5month old grandson to have his picture made for Easter with a bunny or dog or something. What kind of kiddie-chairs or posers could I use? I made the suggestion of getting a car seat and putting a nice baby blanket over it, but my husband said that was tacky. :( Any suggestions??

How about a big basket to sit in or an old fashioned suitcase. If you use a basket then you can put a small cushion at the bottom and drape material over it as well for a different look. At 5 months he may still be young enough to lay on his tummy too.

i personally use an infant seat {one of those ones that attach and unattach to carry the baby in} and a blanket.. looks just like a baby poser when the babys in it..and its very secure.. if you want to spend the moneyt ho… go to and search for baby posers.. theyve got one that is around $100, {it was just on sale last week}

If you like, you can suggest they bring their props.
Use a table, and put comforters for padding, and place something ie. like a white sheet or whatever kind that will make the photo pop,, on top of it, and have the baby on belly. (prop next to baby).
